Going Gluten

This is what I noticed going Gluten. Going Gluten I thought would be fun because I would have more options for food sources, but let's be real here....was I really eating food?  It only took me a few days to realize what I was eating was junk essentially. This so called food didn't give me any nutritional value, gave me heart burn, bloating, cravings, excess water weight and feeling sluggish a bit. Nothing but a burden to say the least. So, why so many of us are going back for more? If this is really what is happening  (not to mention other side effects that I didn't include) why can't we see what is happening? My theory is that most processed foods are highly addictive and that we forget how something tastes vs how it made or bodies feel. It's like we are remembering how the food made us feel at the moment then valuing the nutritional aspect of it.

Chinese food at the Golden Inn was disappointing....
  1. Being to salty
  2. Too greasy
  3. Flavorless
  4. no nutritional value
Frozen Pizza
  1. Flavorless
  2. Too salty
  3. Stuff crust was flavorless as well
  4. Toppings didn't have much taste
  5. No nutritional value
Donuts
  1. Tasted salt right away
  2. Not as much flavor as I thought
  3. I ate all of them because I am addicted to refine sugars, otherwise wasn't good
  4. No nutritional value
Texas Road House
  1. Rolls were good - liked the texture because of it being soft and fluffy
  2. Cinnamon butter wasn't that good to be honest
  3. Garlic bread that came with our meal was nothing to write home about
  4. No nutritional value
Better than sex cake
  1. Unfortunately,  I liked it....again I have a problem with refine sugar
  2. No nutritional value
Taco John's
  1. No nutritional value
  2. Salty as hell
  3. Didn't finish my food
  4. Not too much flavor as well
Arby's
  1. Salty
  2. Felt bloated
  3. Not full of flavor but I wont lie it wasn't horrible either
  4. Oh yeah, no nutritional value
Pizza Roll's (cheese)
  1. Honestly, cheese didn't taste like cheese
  2. Looking at the ingredients was a mistake (didn't know half of what anything was)
  3. bloating
  4. tasteless
  5. unsatisfying
  6. no nutritional value
What the growing trend for me is that these "foods" have no nutritional value and they are easy to grab and go. None of the foods I mentioned benefited me in a healthy, physical or mental way. All these foods did was give me cravings for more junk food, even though the taste wasn't good. My conclusion is that processed food isn't about the taste but more about the addiction and quick easy fix. When my partner and I are making foods at home we are bonding, using team work, and appreciating the foods we make and eat. There is no fast food that can replace the bond that we create together when making food from home. Yes, it's harder and time consuming for the most part; but is that really a bad thing? Why are we so fixed on faster is better? I will tell you this now that any relationship takes time and that even includes you're relationship with you're food.
